The prosecutor's office of Syrym district of the West Kazakhstan region identified violations in road construction committed by the former head of the housing and communal services (HCS), passenger transport and highways department.
According to the press service of the agency, the former official, abusing his official powers, committed illegal actions which caused damage to the state of over 56 million tenge.
The district court found him guilty and sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months of restricted freedom. The verdict has entered into legal force.
This case shows that instances of abuse of power in the housing and communal services sector remain a pressing issue. It will be recalled that previously in the North Kazakhstan region, a verdict was announced against the head of the HCS department of Taiynsha district. He was found guilty of embezzling 15.9 million tenge of budget funds.
It was reported that the official fictitiously concluded a single-source public procurement contract with a businessman for the purchase of a modular pipeline device to ensure heat supply to socially significant facilities in the city of Taiynsha.
