In a court in Turkestan, a sentence was passed on the former head of the State Institution «Zhasyl Aimak» of the regional Department of Nature Management and Natural Resources, I. Begasilov, his deputy A. Yernazarov, the legal advisor of the State Institution M. Ainabekova, and local entrepreneur I. Muslimov.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, they were found guilty of embezzling budget funds amounting to 14.9 million tenge.
It is noted that the accused purchased cheap pesticides and herbicides that did not meet technical specifications or quality requirements.
As a result, Begasilov was sentenced to 2.6 years in prison, while Yernazarov, Ainabekova, and Muslimov were sentenced to 2 years of restricted freedom. All individuals involved were permanently banned from holding positions in the civil service and the quasi-public sector.
It will be recalled that in July last year, criminal cases were initiated in the Turkestan region regarding embezzlement at State Institution «Zhasyl Aimak». At that time, prosecutors revealed that the institution's directors had signed documents confirming the expenditure of budget funds without them actually being used, totalling over 24 million tenge.
Furthermore, the agency identified the ineffective use of 1 billion tenge in planting forest stands, applying fertilisers, watering, installing transformers on land unsuitable for cultivation, and creating the green belt.
