The head of the Housing and Public Utilities Department of the Sarkand District and the director of the contracting organisation have been convicted in the Zhetysu region.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, they embezzled 74.7 million tenge of budget funds intended for the installation of modular toilets at tourist sites.
It turned out that the facility was not actually operational, and the allocated budget funds were spent.
The court found the head of the district's Housing and Public Utilities Department and the director of the contracting organisation guilty and sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment.
Recall that in April it became known that the Department of Housing and Public Utilities, Passenger Transport and Highways of the Taraz Akimat had unjustifiably transferred 75 million tenge to a contractor for four sets of estimate documentation that were never developed.
Later it was reported that a resident of Kostanay, who was involved in a road accident in which two cars were damaged, sued the city's Housing and Public Utilities Department for more than 2 million tenge. The court established that the cause of the accident was the absence of road signs.
At the same time, we wrote that the deputy head of the Kyzylorda Department of Housing and Public Utilities, Passenger Transport and Highways had ordered payment to a contractor of 27 million tenge for uncompleted work on installing 40 pedestrian projectors.
