A court hearing in Shymkent has concluded in a case concerning the abuse of official powers during the implementation of an agricultural project worth hundreds of millions of tenge.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, violations were identified in the activities of JSC "Agricultural Support Fund", which became part of JSC "Agrarian Credit Corporation" (ACC) in 2021.
The crime was committed during the implementation of the project "construction of two apple orchards in the city of Shymkent". According to the investigation, the former deputy chairman of the ACC board, Murat Iskakov, acting in the interests of the supplier, accepted the apple orchards into operation even though they did not meet the technical specifications and stated parameters.
The amount of uncompleted work was 430.6 million tenge. The total damage to the state, according to expert opinions, is 685.8 million tenge.
Following the investigation, a criminal case was sent to court on charges of abuse of power, fraud, and embezzlement of another's property.
On 7 August, the inter-district criminal court of Shymkent sentenced Iskakov and the director of the contractor organisation to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
Recall that in June last year, the former head of the ACC branch for the North Kazakhstan region, Almat Kozhakhmetov, was convicted of taking bribes.
