The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has concluded its investigation into a criminal case concerning the head of the Department of Natural Resources of the Ulytau region on charges of abuse of official power.

According to the agency's press service, individuals who improperly carried out work under the "Zhezdy River Remediation Project" are also listed as suspects.

The investigation established that during the project's implementation, the accused violated construction norms and deviated from the project documentation, which reduced the water volume capacity stated by the designer.

The head of the department signed certificates of completion for works that were not actually carried out. The technical and design supervision teams also signed the completion certificates without visiting the construction site.

It is noted that the officials' actions led to the flooding of 10 private homes during the emergency flood situation in the spring of this year. At the time of the floods, 108 people, including 56 children, were evacuated from 24 private homes in the village of Zhezdy. The case materials have been sent to court.

Reminder: in April, during the flood in the Ulytau region, the FMA launched a pre-trial investigation into officials of a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) that had signed a contract with a state institution worth 485.5 million tenge to carry out the remediation of the Zhezdy River.

It turned out that the contractors failed to perform construction and installation work under the project worth 282.5 million tenge. According to the certificates of completed work, the companies had already been paid 400 million tenge at that point.
