130 million stolen during the construction of a swimming pool in the Karaganda region

The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) is investigating a case concerning the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the construction of a swimming pool in the Karaganda region. 

According to the agency's press service, the suspect transferred money for undelivered construction materials to his own company's account, as well as to other companies not related to the construction of the swimming pool.

"According to the conclusions of the comprehensive judicial construction and economic expert examination and the forensic economic examination, the state suffered damage exceeding 130 million tenge, consisting of uncompleted works and missing materials," the statement said.

The said individual was detained, and the court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of "house arrest". 

Recall that earlier it was reported that in the village of Ulken Naryn, East Kazakhstan region, a sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool has been under construction for the third year. 

Initially, in December 2021, 487,373,696 tenge was allocated for the construction of the swimming pool in the village. The construction was carried out by the company "QazConstruction"

Then, during the project's execution, regional officials concluded 10 additional agreements to the contract, increasing the amount to 666,392,132 tenge and extending the completion deadline to December 2023. However, the sports centre was never built.
