Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited the west of the country to inspect the progress of housing construction for flood victims.

According to the government press service, the priority is monitoring work in the villages and settlements of the West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions, where delays to the work schedule had previously been noted.

In the West Kazakhstan Region, the head of government visited the village of Podstepnoye in the Terekti district, the settlement of Derkul and the Zhuldyz microdistrict in Uralsk, where around 400 houses are being built.

It has become known that 106 three-bedroom houses are being built in the village of Podstepnoye. Work began in May of this year. To date, the pouring of foundations has been fully completed; 43 houses are at the wall construction stage, and 62 houses are at the roofing stage. 8 contractor organisations, around 330 people, and 56 units of equipment are involved at the sites. Commissioning is planned for mid-August.

In the settlement of Derkul, 103 houses are being built. Foundation work has also been fully completed, with 24 properties at the internal finishing stage. 5 contractor organisations are involved. The work is planned to be completed in September.

In the Zhuldyz microdistrict of Uralsk, 191 properties are being built. 17 contractor organisations have been brought in for the work. The house foundations are already ready; walls are being erected in 178, and 49 properties are at the roofing stage.

The Prime Minister emphasised the need for strict control of the work to ensure timely provision of new housing for flood victims.

"The region must pick up the necessary pace. The task of providing high-quality, safe, and comfortable housing is a key priority for the government. Strengthen control at all construction sites. There are a large number of families in the region living in temporary accommodation while waiting for housing. It is necessary to speed up construction work and move to a 2-3 shift schedule. I instruct you to ensure full mobilisation," said Olzhas Bektenov.

Furthermore, the head of government gave instructions on restoring utility networks, road, and social infrastructure.

"In developing areas, associated infrastructure and landscaping must be provided for in advance. The construction of 'Comfortable Schools' for 1,500 places is underway near the new residential areas. According to the regional akimat, the work will be completed in the autumn of this year," the statement said.

Recall, earlier Prime Minister Bektenov visited the East Kazakhstan Region to review the progress of the reconstruction of the Ridder Thermal Power Plant and the construction of a multi-field hospital.
