The Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Ulytau region conducted a monitoring of landfill sites.
"During the monitoring, a number of violations were identified, including the operation of landfills without the necessary permits, non-compliance of waste disposal technologies, corruption risks in the collection and transportation of municipal waste, inflated costs in financial reporting, and others.", the Anti-Corruption Service press office reported.
As a result, for non-compliance with environmental requirements, the Deputy Akim of Zhezkazgan, B.A. Aben, who oversees the municipal sector, was brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of 100 MCI (393,200 tenge).
It was noted that the violations concerned the accumulation, transportation, disposal, neutralisation, and collection of waste.
