A sentence has been handed down in the Zhetysu District Court of Almaty to the head of the city's employment and social programmes department.
According to the Anti-Corruption Service press office, he was found guilty of attempting to embezzle 3.6 million tenge from a representative of Cyperpro-Com LLP.
It is reported that the official tried to obtain the money under the pretext of facilitating the signing of a contract for the provision of special social services for children diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Ultimately, the court sentenced the department head to a fine of 27 million tenge, with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities. The court decision has entered into force.
Recall that in March, the Pavlodar prosecutor's office uncovered instances of illegal fee collection by the management of a rehabilitation centre for providing social services to people with disabilities. It was reported that the institution is funded from the local budget.
In April, the Anti-Corruption Service completed its pre-trial investigation into the director of the State Institution 'Centre for the Resocialisation of Persons in Difficult Life Situations of the Employment and Social Programmes Department of Uralsk'. He is suspected of embezzling budget funds totalling 11.5 million tenge.
