The court in Atyrau has sentenced the director of City Polyclinic No. 4, Sabirov Y., along with the head of maintenance Alzhanova A., the chief accountant Dyusengaliyeva M. and the entrepreneur Yeraliyeva A.

"The defendants were found guilty of embezzling funds amounting to 231.8 million tenge by transferring them to an entrepreneur without the actual provision of services under contracts concluded in violation of legal requirements", reported the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency.

The court sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 5 to 7 years. The head of the polyclinic, Sabirov, was also permanently banned from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities.

Alzhanova, Dyusengaliyeva and Yeraliyeva were banned from holding financially responsible positions in state organisations for 7 years.

Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Mangystau Region has completed a pre-trial investigation into the director and chief accountant of Zhanaozen City Polyclinic No. 2.

They are suspected of embezzling 10.5 million tenge. It is reported that the money was transferred to the account of a private company without the actual delivery of medical products under a public procurement contract.

It is noted that this year the Anti-Corruption Agency identified 95 corruption offences in the social sphere, in the commission of which 58 individuals were implicated, 34 of whom have been convicted.

Recall that previously in Almaty, a sentence was passed against the accountants of the city polyclinic Khangireyeva K. and Tuganbayeva A. They were accused of embezzling budget funds. The damage amounted to over 341 million tenge. The court sentenced chief accountant Khangireyeva to 7 years and 6 months in prison. Her subordinate Tuganbayeva was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

In July, a doctor from the capital's medical centre, Makishev, was convicted of receiving a bribe in the amount of 500 thousand tenge. The medical centre doctor received the illegal remuneration from a patient for performing a routine surgical operation.

At the beginning of the year, it was reported that employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Aktobe Region detained the chief physician of the multi-disciplinary regional hospital, Yerzhan Uzganov, on suspicion of corruption. The detainee admitted his guilt and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
