The Zhylyoi District Court of Atyrau Region has sentenced the director of the State Institution "Centre for Special Social Services for Adults No.2" G. Zhalekenova and accountant A. Shmidova.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, they were found guilty of embezzling budget funds amounting to more than 73 million tenge. The investigation established that the suspects illegally transferred salaries to individuals who did not actually work at the institution.
The court sentenced Shmidova to 7 years' imprisonment, and Zhalekenova, taking into account full compensation for damages and the presence of a young child, to restriction of liberty for a term of 3 years and 6 months.
In addition, they were permanently disqualified from holding positions in the civil service and in entities of the quasi-public sector.
It will be recalled that in April, it became known that the State Institution "Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programmes of Pavlodar Region" entered into contracts with Art-Class LLP and the Public Association of Disabled Persons "Ayum i D" for the supply of laptops and mobile phones. The procurement amount totalled more than 476 million tenge.
However, the supplier purchased cheaper analogues of electronic equipment that did not meet the stated technical specifications. This caused damage of nearly 133 million tenge.
In mid-December, in the Turkestan Region, the director of the Maktaral Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children, Nurzhan Suleimenov, and chief accountant Madina Nauryzbayeva were sentenced for embezzling 84.3 million tenge.
