The Korday District Court of Zhambyl Region has considered the case of the head of the regional department for quality assurance in education R. Balapanov and directors of preschool institutions N. Nusupbayev and N. Tulendiyeva.

According to the press service of Anticor, Balapanov was found guilty of receiving a bribe of 300,000 tenge from Tulendiyeva. Nusupbayev acted as an intermediary in the transfer of the bribe, which was intended for the state certification of a private kindergarten.

The court sentenced them to fines ranging from 3 to 7 million tenge. In addition, the convicts were banned for life from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities. If the fine is not paid within the specified period, the penalty will be replaced by imprisonment.

They were accused of creating an organised criminal group to embezzle budget funds. As a result of the criminal actions, the state suffered damages amounting to 4.3 billion tenge. Ultimately, the organiser of the criminal group was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment, and its members received between 9 and 13 years' imprisonment.

In July, in the Turkestan region, Anticor stopped the activities of an organised criminal group involved in illegal acts in the education sector. The criminal group, which consists of 12 members, is suspected of embezzling 3.7 billion tenge of budget funds.

Later, in the Zhetysu region, a verdict was announced against the head of the Taldykorgan education department, Zh. Dzholdykhanov. He was found guilty of receiving a bribe of 280 million tenge from the chief accountant of the department. As a result, Dzholdykhanov was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment with a lifelong ban from holding positions in the civil service.

In October, prosecutors in the Turkestan region completed 7 pre-trial investigations concerning 123 employees in the region's education sector. During the investigation, 1.5 billion tenge was recovered from the suspects and paid into state revenue, and property acquired through criminal means worth 2.9 billion tenge was seized.
