Russian prosecutors have found polluters of the Urals upstream from Kazakhstan

The Orsk Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office has identified violations in the discharge of wastewater into the Ural River in the territories of Orsk and Novotroitsk. In the first half of 2025, enterprises exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants. The court upheld the prosecutor's claims to eliminate the violations.

In the akimat of Aktobe Region, the preliminary cause of the fire has been determined to be a short circuit in the electrical wiring. The fire spread across the roof due to a high combustible load. The area of the blaze totalled 300 square metres. A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident under Article 292 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Staff have been temporarily moved to remote working, with no serious damage to documentation recorded.

AFM has shut down a mass phishing campaign using an SMS blaster.

The Financial Monitoring Agency, together with the General Prosecutor’s Office and specialists from Tele2, has shut down the activities of a group suspected of mass phishing SMS campaigns using an SMS blaster. The device mimicked mobile base stations and allowed the group to bypass operators’ security, directing users to fake websites to collect personal and banking details. Four suspects have been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.

The former head of a colony in North Kazakhstan Region has been fined for attempted fraud.

A court in the North Kazakhstan Region has found former colony settlement head Rustem Rakhmetov guilty of fraud and incitement to bribery. According to the investigation, he offered a convicted person assistance in getting a lighter sentence in exchange for money, without having the ability to influence the court's decision. He was fined 3 million tenge and given a lifetime ban from civil service; the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
