The prosecutor's office of Almaty Region secured the full repayment of salary arrears owed to 1,626 workers. The total amount paid out was 487 million tenge.
WHAT VIOLATIONS THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE UNCOVERED
According to the prosecutor's office of Almaty Region, since the start of the year, violations of labour legislation were identified in two organisations that had allowed salary arrears to accrue for their employees.
The supervisory authority reported that after the prosecutor's intervention, the workers' rights were restored and the arrears were fully paid off.
The prosecutor's office also reminded that, according to Article 113 of the Labour Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Timelines for Payment of Wages"), an employer is obliged to pay wages at least once a month and no later than the first ten days of the following month.
THE SITUATION AT ALTYN ADAM SCHOOL
One example was the private school ALTYN ADAM in Enbekshikazakh District. As reported by the prosecutor's office, the educational institution had not paid wages to 134 teachers for an extended period.
The amount of arrears was 75.9 million tenge.
Following the prosecutor's inspection, those responsible were brought to administrative account. In addition, the labour inspectorate issued a directive to eliminate the violations.
Currently, the arrears owed to the school's employees have been fully repaid.
HOW MANY CITIZENS RECEIVED PROTECTION
The prosecutor's office reported that since the start of the year, the measures taken by the supervisory authority have protected the rights of 18,839 citizens.
The total amount of repaid salary arrears stood at 487 million tenge.
