In Kazakhstan, state labour inspectors have identified wage arrears and other violations at enterprises across the country. Inspections revealed cases of delayed payments and non-compliance with the requirements of labour legislation.
WAGE ARREARS
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MLSPP), as of 1 March 2026, wage arrears were identified at 102 enterprises.
The total amount of debt owed to 408 workers exceeded 284 million tenge.
Following the inspections, heads of organisations were issued 707 binding orders. Fines totalling more than 89 million tenge were also imposed.
HOW MUCH HAS BEEN PAID TO WORKERS
After the inspections, part of the debt was repaid. According to the department, the rights of 354 workers have been restored — they have been paid 253 million tenge.
INSPECTIONS AND IDENTIFIED VIOLATIONS
As of 1 March 2026, state labour inspectors conducted 1,125 inspections. During these, 1,228 violations were identified, including:
- in the sphere of labour relations — 1,055;
- in health and safety at work — 161;
- in the sphere of employment — 12.
As a result of the measures taken, according to the department, the labour rights of 11,354 workers have been protected.
