Since the start of the year, state labour inspectors have identified wage arrears at 257 enterprises across the country. More than 3,700 workers have not received over 1.4 billion tenge in total.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, inspections in organisations also revealed more than 4,700 violations of labour legislation. Company directors were issued 2,602 orders to be carried out without fail, and fines totalling over 332 million tenge were imposed.
As a result of the measures taken, including establishing repayment schedules and deadlines, the rights of 3,437 workers were protected — they were paid 1.2 billion tenge.
The ministry noted that compliance with labour legislation is under special scrutiny. Since the start of the year, department staff have conducted 4,013 inspections, which led to the identification of 4,706 violations: 3,965 in the sphere of labour, 721 in occupational safety and health, and 20 in the sphere of employment.
Overall, the measures taken this year have helped protect the labour rights of 30,000 workers.
It is worth recalling that earlier it was reported that the state-owned enterprise "Komek", which is involved in the production, transmission and distribution of thermal energy in the Pavlodar region, had not fulfilled its tax obligations or paid social contributions and allowances to 137 workers for more than three years. The debt amounted to over 66 million tenge.
