In the Zerenda district of the Akmola region, meltwater has destroyed part of a road, leaving residents of one village without direct transport links.

HOW THE ROAD WAS DESTROYED

According to the Instagram account «Sinegor.kz», the washout occurred near the village of Igilik. Witnesses said the incident happened the day before, as they were returning from Kokshetau. At that moment, the section of road began to wash away and collapse before their eyes.

Villagers note that the road was repaired in October last year. They are of the opinion that the work may have been carried out improperly. This information has not been officially confirmed.

After the road was destroyed, the village of Igilik was effectively cut off from the outside world. According to residents, it is currently impossible to enter or leave the settlement via the main route.

COMMENT FROM THE AKIMAT

The Akimat of the Zerenda district reported that the incident was caused by an intense influx of meltwater, which led to the washout of a drainage structure on the Igilik – Zhamantuz road.

The authority clarified that an alternative route has been organised via the village of Kanai Bi, and checkpoints have been set up at the site of the washout. Once the water level subsides, restoration work is planned.

The akimat also emphasised that there is no threat of flooding to the settlement, and the situation is under constant control.

Similar incidents have been recorded in the region. During last year's spring floods, roads in the Akmola region were also washed out, rendering some sections impassable.
