A mudflow damaged a section of the republican highway KZ19-01 "Saryozek – Koktal" in the Panfilov district of the Zhetysu region. Traffic on the road has not been completely closed and is being organised in a reverse-flow mode using the remaining lane.

WHAT IS KNOWN
According to NC "KazAvtoZhol" JSC, heavy rainfall on 24–25 August 2026 caused intense surface runoff, carrying mud and rock debris onto certain sections of the highway.
The most serious damage was recorded at the 152nd kilometre. The mudflow washed away the roadside and part of the earth bed down to the subgrade level. As a result, there was a localised collapse of part of the right lane of the carriageway and damage to the road surface.
WHAT WORK IS BEING CARRIED OUT
To eliminate the consequences, the forces of DEU-90 and DEU-18 have been mobilised. 18 workers and 13 units of special equipment are involved in the emergency repair work, including KamAZ trucks and dump trucks, front-end loaders, MTZ tractors and a bulldozer.
Road services are clearing the carriageway of mud and rock deposits. At the same time, they are reinforcing the washed-out earth bed and restoring the stability of the damaged section.
HOW TRAFFIC IS ORGANISED
The damaged area has been fenced off, and temporary road signs and guide devices have been installed. Patrol police officers are also on duty at the site.
There is no complete closure of the road: vehicles are moving in reverse-flow mode along the remaining lane of the carriageway. Emergency repair and reinforcement work is ongoing, and the condition of the section is under constant monitoring by road services.
