The akimat of the Zerenda district in the Akmola region has commented on a video circulating on social media, which shows sections of roads destroyed after the spring floods.
Earlier, a video from the road Isakovka-Kostomarovka was published on the Instagram account ‘Sinegor.kz’. The footage shows large bumps and potholes.
‘After the spring floods, our roads look like this. The roads were never great, but we didn't complain before; now you can neither walk nor drive. When will this all be fixed? The road to these villages also leaves a lot to be desired’, the message reads.
According to the MIA ‘Kazinform’, the akimat of the Zerenda district stated that the road had been damaged by heavy goods vehicles.
‘Due to the start of spring field work, agricultural producers are transporting seed material. Because of groundwater and frost heave, the road was damaged by heavy goods vehicles’, the department reported.
It is noted that at the end of April, the akim of the rural district held a meeting with local residents, following which a decision was made to carry out repair work on the specified sections of the road after 11 May 2025.
‘A project has been developed, titled “Medium repair of a district road from the Kokshetau – Atbasar – Viktorovka – Kostomarovka – Isakovka – Uyaly highway”, which has passed state expertise’, the message states.
It has become known that the cost of the project is 1.2 billion tenge. The district housing and utilities department has submitted an application to the regional authorities for funding.
For context, in February 2025, the Tasqyn flood forecasting system was put into operation. The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation promised that the first forecasts would appear in early March, but, as practice has shown, even these vague predictions did not help prevent the numerous floodings that occurred in various regions of the country.
Reality contradicted the department's optimistic reports: several regions (North Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, East Kazakhstan) experienced serious flooding. Roads were washed out, settlements were flooded, and transport links were disrupted.
Entire villages were cut off, while the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, spoke about the ‘effectiveness’ of Tasqyn. At the same time, the real cost of the forecasting system and the specific results of its work remain unknown.
