In the Burabay district, a road traffic accident involving a quad bike occurred, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old resident of Astana. A criminal case has been opened regarding the accident, and the police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Department of Police (DP) of Akmola Region, on 7 July, on a section of the road between the settlements of Zeleny Bor and Burabay, a 22-year-old female resident of the capital, who was driving a quad bike, is preliminarily believed to have overturned the vehicle.
The woman died at the scene from her injuries. The passenger of the quad bike — a resident of Astana born in 2007 — sought medical assistance.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident. As part of the investigation, police officers are establishing all the circumstances of the traffic accident.
The activities of the quad bike rental point, compliance with safety requirements when hiring out motorcycles, and other potential causes that could have led to the tragedy are also being checked.

The DP of Akmola Region urges residents and guests of the region to comply with safety requirements when using quad bikes and other motorcycles.
Before a trip, it is recommended to check the serviceability of the vehicle, use protective gear, do not exceed safe speeds, and adhere to the established operating rules. According to the police, these measures help reduce the risk of serious consequences when using motorcycles.
CONTEXT
This is not the first case of a fatal traffic accident involving a quad bike in the Burabay district. In the summer of 2024, a girl died as a result of an overturned rented quad bike, and another was injured. Following that incident, law enforcement authorities also investigated the circumstances of the accident and checked compliance with safety requirements when hiring out motorcycles.
In recent months, the region has again come under public scrutiny for a different reason. In June 2026, a criminal case concerning the death of a resident of Shchuchinsk, Asem Shabelskaya, generated widespread resonance. A man, with whom the woman had previously been in a relationship according to available information, was detained on suspicion of committing the crime.
