Enterprises owe workers 4.4 billion tenge in wages

Since the beginning of the year, state labour inspectors have identified wage arrears totalling 4.4 billion tenge owed to 18,700 employees of the country's enterprises. 

According to the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, in addition, more than 7,500 violations of labour rights were found in various organisations.

The heads of enterprises where wage arrears were identified were issued 249 orders and fined more than 50.3 million tenge.

"As a result of the measures taken, including the establishment of strict schedules and deadlines for repaying wage arrears, the rights of more than 17,500 employees have been protected. They have been paid 3.4 billion tenge", the statement said.

At the same time, state labour inspectors conducted 5,039 inspections, during which they identified 7,583 violations of labour legislation, of which: in the sphere of labour – 5,723; health and safety – 1,793; and employment of the population – 67.

"Employers were issued 2,998 orders and 3,359 administrative fines were imposed totalling 371 million tenge. As a result of the measures taken, the labour rights of more than 33,000 employees have been protected", the statement said.

Recall that in April, in the Akmola region, prosecutors identified a case of non-payment of wages to employees of the State Enterprise "Burabay Su Arnasy". For January, the enterprise owed 26.7 million tenge to 205 employees.

In August, it was reported that employees of kindergartens in the Khromtau and Uil districts of the Aktobe region did not receive salary supplements that should have been paid to them from 2022 to 2024.

At the same time, it became known that in the Zerenda district of the Akmola region, a state enterprise failed to pay salaries to 943 employees. The debt amounted to 397 million tenge.

In November, in the Zhambyl region, school librarians stated that they had not been paid a supplement for two months. They claimed that their salaries had decreased by 35% since September.

Later, the prosecutor's office of the Yesil district of the capital revealed that the Republican State Enterprise "Zhasyl Aimak" had not paid wages to more than 600 employees for September, totalling 144 million tenge.

In early December, the prosecutor's office of the Temir district of the Aktobe region identified a case of delayed wage payments at the State Communal Enterprise "Shubarkudyk zhylu". It became known that 87 employees had not received more than 8.5 million tenge.
