At the Sokolovskaya mine in the Kostanay region, a worker died after blasting operations. The Telegram channel ‘Our Newspaper (Kostanay)’ reported this, citing the press service of JSC ‘Sokolov-Sarbai Mining and Processing Production Association’ (SSGPO).
‘During the scaling of loose rock after blasting operations at the –280 m horizon, a piece of rock mass detached onto a drift miner. As a result, the worker sustained injuries incompatible with life’, the statement said.
Employees and management of SSGPO expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.
‘The family of the deceased will be provided with the necessary assistance. An investigation is being conducted into the incident’, the company stated.
For context, a worker previously died at a mine operated by the company ‘Kazakhmys’ in the Ulytau region. The tragedy occurred at the ‘Zhylandy’ mine. One month before this incident, a fatal tragedy occurred at the same enterprise’s mine No. 57 of the East Zhezkazgan mine. The deceased was a mine foreman.
In August last year, in the Karaganda region, a conveyor belt caught fire at the ‘Kazakhstanskaya’ mine of the coal department of JSC ‘ArcelorMittal Temirtau’. At the time, 227 people were inside the mine, five of whom died.
