Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev told journalists why the same roads are repaired every year in the country.
According to ORDA, the minister explained that there are several types of road repairs - routine, medium, and major. In his words, different types of road repairs are carried out at different times.
"For example, there is a pothole, and they carry out a medium routine repair there. The following year, that pothole appears again — and they carry out a routine repair again. This is a natural road process", said Karabayev on the sidelines of the Majilis.
Also, in his opinion, to some extent, the vehicle owners themselves are to blame for the wear and tear of the roads.
"For instance, heavy trucks... According to our standards, the axle load should be 25 tonnes. Heavy trucks that deliver construction materials sometimes exceed 100 tonnes. Do they destroy the road? Undoubtedly. Therefore, additional repairs have to be made. But routine repairs on sections are an annual task", he added.
At the same time, journalists were interested in whether Karabayev thought that some individuals were simply laundering money through such repairs.
"No, I do not think so. That is not the case. We don't have enough money as it is... There are sections with many expenses. Take Astana. The repairs taking place there are a natural process of road maintenance. There was also a question about when innovative technologies would be introduced. These are additives and admixtures. Well, they already exist, over 97 types", Marat Karabayev added.
For reference, it was previously reported that in the West Kazakhstan Region, they plan to allocate 114.4 billion tenge this year for the repair of more than 579 km of roads.
Furthermore, in Almaty, they intend to repair roads on 274 streets of the city. Their total length will be 250 km.
In addition, the press service of the Astana Akimat stated that a number of road construction contractors in the capital will be forced to re-do the work at their own expense. It is reported that during a spring inspection, defects were found on several streets where repair work was carried out during the period when Kulginov was the mayor of the capital.
