On 13 August, a video appeared on social media showing residents of the village of Dolan in the Karasai District of the Almaty Region blocking a road due to a lack of water. They were attempting to draw the authorities' attention to their problem.
According to the Kazinform News Agency, local residents claimed there had been no water for over a week.
It is reported that since April this year, the water supply in the village of Dolan has been under the management of the limited liability partnership «Bey AzhTrans».
"Regarding the lack of drinking water, we clarify that on the evening of 11 August, the water supply was halted due to a deep well pump failure. As of today, the deep well pump has been replaced with a new one by the LLP «Bey AzhTrans». At present, water is being supplied at medium pressure, and the filling of the water supply network and water tower is ongoing", commented the press service of the Almaty Region Akimat.
The Akimat also noted that due to the temporary water supply shutdown on 13 August, a group of 30 people gathered near the «Dikhan» shop in the village of Dolan.
"Explanatory work was carried out with the residents, after which they dispersed. Other information being circulated on social media does not correspond to reality. The situation is under the control of local executive bodies", added the Akimat.
It will be recalled that a meeting between the Akim of Kyzylorda, Nurzhan Akhatov, and residents of the suburban Sabalak settlement, who have been suffering from a lack of drinking water for several years, stirred strong emotions in the official. The residents invited the Akim to their homes in the hope that the new leader could resolve the drinking water issue, but his reaction was mixed.
