In Almaty, the sports complexes "Almaty Arena" and "Khalyk Arena" have been returned to state ownership. This was reported by the official representative of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Daniyar Bigaidarov.
"In Almaty, the 'Khalyk Arena' and 'Almaty Arena' facilities, previously managed by a private organisation on a non-reimbursable basis under a PPP, have been returned to municipal ownership,", the agency employee is quoted as saying by the media.
It has been reported that the sports facilities were built for the 2017 Winter Universiade. In 2019, the ice palaces were transferred into private hands.
"The Anti-Corruption Agency conducted an external analysis of corruption risks in the field of sports financing. At the central level, the analysis was carried out in the work of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and at the regional level, in the regional departments of sports and physical culture,", the statement read.
In addition, in the Atyrau Region, a sports facility, the "Ice Palace", which was unjustifiably transferred to a private entrepreneur in 2018, was returned to the state.
