The state has reclaimed ownership of the school of higher sports excellence, which belonged to former Minister of Culture Arystanbek Mukhamediuly. The institution is valued at 1.2 billion tenge.
"On 17 July 2024, the decision of the Specialised Inter-District Economic Court of Almaty declaring the sale of the Republican School of Higher Sports Excellence for Water and Applied Sports invalid came into force.", the press service of the Almaty prosecutor's office writes.
It is reported that the court confirmed the market value of the property was understated by 551 million tenge.
It has become known that the school's property consists of 7,600 m² of administrative buildings, sports halls and other structures, as well as 4.9 hectares of land.
It is noted that the sports school was owned by Nomad's Land LLP, which belongs to persons affiliated with Mukhamediuly.
Recall that earlier the court found Mukhamediuly guilty of attempted bribery and increased his previous sentence from 8 to 11 years' imprisonment.
His wife, Galiya Iskakova, was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment for acting as an intermediary in bribery. However, the court later changed the sentence and ruled that Iskakova's main punishment was considered served, releasing her from custody.
