Three more properties belonging to former Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly are set to be returned to state ownership. Their total value is 3.5 billion tenge.

The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office recalled that in 2019, the Republican School of Higher Sports Mastery for Water and Applied Sports was sold to a company affiliated with Mukhamediuly for 332 million tenge.

"The enterprise located in Almaty was valued at 662 million tenge before the sale. However, the actual market value of the property complex was 1.213 billion tenge, the difference resulting from an understatement of the enterprise's long-term assets," the statement reads.

It is reported that, following a lawsuit from the Almaty prosecutor's office, the court invalidated the contract for the sale of the enterprise.

At the same time, court proceedings are underway in Astana and Almaty regarding the return to state ownership of three more properties worth over 3.5 billion tenge, previously sold to companies linked to Mukhamediuly.

"As part of an inspection by the Ulytau regional prosecutor's office, one of the heads of the Karaganda Department of State Property has been committed to trial (Negligence under Part 2 of Article 371 of the Criminal Code). The latter is accused of showing negligence during the alienation of a state property object, resulting in damage to the state amounting to 184 million tenge," the statement reads.

Furthermore, 35 officials from the Committee of State Property and Privatisation were punished for systemic shortcomings and omissions, including the heads of regional departments.

Previously, the court found Mukhamediuly guilty of attempting to give a bribe and replaced his previous sentence of 8 years with 11 years' imprisonment.

His wife, Galiya Iskakova, was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment for mediation in bribery. However, the court later changed the sentence and ruled that Iskakova's main punishment was deemed served, releasing her from custody.
