In Kostanay and Almaty, sentences have been handed down to employees of children's institutions who caused harm to minors in their care.

The specialised inter-district court for minors of the Kostanay region considered a criminal case against a care worker at a children's centre providing social special services, who burnt a 16-year-old girl with a hot iron.

According to the department's press service, the woman was charged with failure to fulfil duties for the upbringing of a minor, as well as intentional infliction of minor harm to the health of a minor in a helpless state.

It became known that on 14 March, the defendant, while at her workplace and contrary to her official duties, caused minor bodily harm to the minor.

In court, the woman fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse. The court considered her sincere repentance and the fact that she had a minor child dependent on her as mitigating circumstances.

Ultimately, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months' restriction of liberty, with a ban on holding teaching positions and positions related to working with minors for a period of 3 years. Probation supervision was established for the entire term of the sentence, and the convict was assigned to compulsory labour.

The second case occurred in Almaty, where a sentence was passed on a teacher at a private nursery school "Akhlak", who six months ago strangled a child. The abuse came to light after the boy complained to his parents that he was being hit at the nursery.

The parents requested the camera footage and saw the teacher strangling the child in the presence of two other employees of the institution.

According to KTK, at the trial, the woman asked for forgiveness from the child's father, explaining that she was simply trying to calm the little one down. During the investigation, it emerged that the defendant was 20 years old, had graduated from a madrasa, and then got a job at the private nursery. The court found the teacher guilty and sentenced her to 4 years in prison with a 10-year ban on working with children.
