Parents of children at kindergarten No. 21 «Gulder» in Astana have reported violence by a nursery assistant. Over a period of six months, children were subjected to systematic beatings.
According to Kursiv.media, relatives claim that the teacher, head teacher and methodologist knew what was happening but took no action.
Video evidence from the kindergarten's internal cameras has been shared on social media. The footage shows a woman in uniform hitting children on the head and body, and throwing them to the floor.
«Please help us, so that more people find out about this and the case doesn't get swept under the rug. In just 3 days of viewing, 19 episodes of child beatings were found,» reads a message from one of the mothers.
The Astana Education Department has confirmed the fact of violence. According to them, the use of physical force by the assistant teacher was recorded on CCTV cameras. The employee was dismissed for breaching labour discipline.
«The materials have been handed over to the police department. An investigation is being conducted as part of criminal proceedings,» the department stated.
Parents now intend to seek accountability for all those involved and are demanding public oversight of the investigation's progress.
To recall, in April this year in the Ulytau region, a teacher who hit a child on the head and lips and then pushed him because the child put watercolour paint in his mouth was sentenced. The court ordered community service and required the payment of compensation to the child's mother.
In February in the Atyrau region, a teacher at a private kindergarten who hit a 5-year-old child during a lesson was sentenced. Afterwards, a haematoma was found on the child's right thigh. The court found her guilty and imposed a fine of 314 thousand tenge.
