The police department of the Almaty metropolitan district has announced the launch of an investigation into the beating of a child by a nursery employee.
According to Informburo.kz, the boy's parents claim that the carer locked him in the toilet, concealing the acts of violence. It is noted that due to the injuries inflicted, the child began to stutter.
“The police department of the Almaty district is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the improper performance of duties related to the upbringing of a minor. Based on the results, measures will be taken in accordance with the law”, the law enforcement officials reported.
For context, a video had previously appeared online from the private Almaty nursery ‘Akhlak’, showing a carer choking a 4-year-old child. There were also two other staff members present in the room. The abuse came to light after the child complained to his parents that he was being hit at the nursery.
The press service of the Almaty police department stated that law enforcement had opened a criminal case regarding the incident.
It was also reported that the branch of the nursery has had its activities temporarily suspended. The suspect and the head of the institution were dismissed, and the director was fined.
