In the Ili district of the Almaty region, at a metal collection point, an explosion of an unknown object occurred, resulting in the deaths of three people.
According to media reports, the press service of the regional police department said that the bodies of the deceased were found at the scene. Police officers, emergency services units, and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the tragedy. A pre-trial investigation is underway to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, ORDA reports that local residents are disputing the official version. According to them, the explosion occurred at an aluminium processing plant, the closure of which they have been demanding for a long time.
"We have repeatedly complained to the akimat, the police, and the prosecutor's office, but there was no response. If the plant had been closed in time, this tragedy could have been avoided," one eyewitness wrote.
Earlier, it was reported that in the village of Bozanbay in the Ulan district of the East Kazakhstan region, a tractor driver died while carrying out construction work.
