In Zhezkazgan, during repair work on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, an employee of a contractor organisation died. The death was confirmed by the press service of the Ulytau Regional Health Department.
According to CentralMedia24.kz, the man was carrying out earthworks when a ground collapse occurred.
"A call was received by the ambulance station from the emergency rescue service stating that a man had fallen into a trench. Paramedics pronounced death at the scene," the health department reported.
The regional police department clarified that a criminal case has been opened regarding the incident under Part 3 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of occupational safety requirements resulting in death").
According to available information, the contractor organisation Bektan LLP may have been involved in the work on the site, but journalists were unable to obtain a comment from the company.
It should be recalled that earlier in Karaganda, during the replacement of a sewer pipe on Shakhtyorov Avenue, two workers from the contractor organisation NS Sistema LLP died. During earthworks in a trench, the ground collapsed. The workers were trapped under the rubble and suffocated.
