Teachers in Kostanay region did not receive pension compensations worth 38 million tenge.

The Prosecutor's Office of Kostanay Region has identified violations of education workers' rights amounting to more than 223 million tenge. Teachers were not paid compensation upon retirement or travel expenses.

According to the press service of the authority, institutions had incorrectly processed documents for the dismissal of teachers. Instead of stating the true reason — reaching retirement age — the orders recorded dismissal 'by agreement of the parties' or 'at their own request'. As a result, 350 workers did not receive compensation totalling more than 38 million tenge.

Furthermore, the region's education departments did not pay travel expenses for more than 1,800 teachers who had completed professional development courses as part of a state order. The total amount of debt exceeded 185 million tenge.

According to the prosecutor's office supervision acts, 405 teachers were paid more than 60 million tenge. As stated by the authority, the remaining workers will receive their due payments shortly.

It may be recalled that in April last year, it was reported that more than twenty teachers in the Zhetysu region had not received their entitled salary supplements for two years. The total amount of unpaid funds exceeded 11 million tenge.

In August, it became known that 39 kindergarten employees in the Khromtau and Uil districts of the Aktobe region had received less in salary supplements than they were owed, totalling more than 3 million tenge.
