The Supreme Audit Chamber punished 28 officials for violations in the veterinary sector.

The Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) has identified violations in the areas of veterinary, phytosanitary and food safety, leading to disciplinary measures against a number of officials and specialists.

According to the department's press service, the audit was completed in August this year and revealed non-compliance with budgetary and sector-specific legislation.

In total, 28 people were held to various measures of responsibility, including:

  • Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Director of the Department for Strategic Planning and Analysis, Heads of the Directorates for Scientific Support, Internal Trade, and Microcredit Monitoring; 
  • Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision: Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Heads of the Directorates for Food Safety and Biological Safety, Deputy General Director of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory; 
  • Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex: Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Head of the Zhambyl Regional Territorial Inspectorate, Head of the Accounting Department of the Almaty Territorial Inspectorate; 
  • Food Contract Corporation JSC: Director of the Department for Accounting and Storage of Agricultural Products, Managing Director – Member of the Board; 
  • Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing: Deputy Chairman of the Board for Science, Chief Economist, Chief Accountant, Head of the Oilseed Crops Laboratory; 
  • Kazakh Research Institute of Processing and Food Industry: Chief Researchers, Chief Engineer, Accountant of the Semey Branch; 
  • S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University: Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Innovation; 
  • Social-Entrepreneurial Corporation (SEC) 'Pavlodar': Director of the Department for Lending and Asset Management; 
  • SEC 'Tobol': Acting Director of the Department for Investment Projects and Industrial Zone Development;
  • Responsible employees of SEC 'Solтүstіk' and SEC 'Kokshe'.

The Supreme Audit Chamber stated that the implementation of other instructions following the results of the inspection remains under monitoring until their full completion.

Recall that earlier, a number of officials in the education sector were held to disciplinary responsibility after an audit of the efficiency of using budget funds allocated for the development of the sector.

Later, officials from the Ministry of Health and its subordinate organisations were punished following a state audit conducted by the SAC.
