Dozens of university heads and Ministry of Education staff have been punished following a VAP inspection.

A number of education officials have been subjected to disciplinary action following an audit into the effective use of budget funds allocated for the development of the sector.

According to the press service of the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC), an audit conducted in February revealed systemic violations in the work of the Ministry of Education, its subordinate organisations, and a number of the country's leading universities.

Auditors identified problems in the training and employment of teachers, the methodological support of the educational process, and issues of state regulation.

In connection with this, the SAC instructed the authorised bodies to consider the issue of disciplinary responsibility for officials who committed violations of the law.

It is reported that disciplinary measures were applied to employees of the Ministry of Education, the management of scientific centres, and representatives of major universities. Those held accountable include:

  • Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Rector of the Sh. Yessenov Caspian University of Technology and Engineering;
  • Rector of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University;
  • Vice-Rector of the I. Altynsarin Arkalyk Pedagogical Institute;
  • Vice-Rector of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University;
  • Vice-Rector of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;
  • Vice-Rector of the M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University;
  • Vice-Rector of the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University;
  • Vice-Rector of the Academician A. Kuatbekov Peoples' Friendship University;
  • Vice-Rector of the Sh. Murtaza International Taraz Innovation Institute;
  • Dean of the M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University;
  • Heads of Departments at the A. Myrzakhmetov Kokshetau University;
  • Director of the Financial and Economic Department and one of the chief researchers of the I. Altynsarin National Academy of Education;
  • Specialists from the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.

Heads of departments and methodologists from the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre "Daryn" were also subjected to disciplinary action.
