Construction is nearing completion in Kokshetau on a major sports and cultural complex, financed by the Special State Fund, which receives assets returned to the state.

According to the government press service, 12.6 billion tenge has been allocated for the project. It is reported that the facility will become one of the largest sports venues in the region. Inside, specialised halls are planned for boxing, wrestling, weightlifting and crossfit.

Equipment is being procured in accordance with Olympic standards, which will allow Kokshetau to host competitions at the national and international level, including IBA (International Boxing Association) tournaments.

On the complex grounds, two football pitches, areas for athletics, courts for team sports, as well as sectors for shot put and javelin are being developed. The project includes specialised equipment for people with limited mobility.

In addition, the opening of a universal hall with a climbing wall and a tower for fire-fighting sport is planned. It is noted that this base will be able to train cadets from the Civil Defence Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For cultural events, a hall with 650 seats is provided, equipped with modern multimedia systems.

Main construction work on the site has already been completed; interior finishing, landscaping and connection of utility networks are ongoing. The overall readiness of the complex stands at 85%. Commissioning is scheduled before the end of this year.

It is expected that the implementation of the project will expand residents' access to year-round sports services and increase public involvement in physical education.

It will be recalled that in January, it was reported that a sports complex worth 1.1 billion tenge was planned to be built in the village of Zhalagash, Kegen district, Almaty region, using returned assets.

In February, the list of projects financed by the Special State Fund included the construction of the Kazhymukan Munaitpasov Stadium in Astana. More than 17.3 billion tenge was allocated for the construction of the facility.
