Unfinished high-rise buildings for those in need were illegally put into operation in Kokshetau

The Prosecutor's Office of Kokshetau has uncovered a case of the illegal commissioning of two multi-apartment residential buildings, the construction of which was financed from budget funds intended to provide housing for socially vulnerable segments of the population.

According to the press service of the department, in 2023, the former head of the city's construction department signed acceptance certificates for buildings with a total capacity of 140 apartments and transferred money to the contractor despite the projects not being completed.

As a result, the state suffered damage of over 90 million tenge. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this fact under paragraph 2, part 4, article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Misappropriation or embezzlement of another's property").

Recall that in June it was reported that in the city of Shchuchinsk, Akmola Region, the construction of the multi-functional Sports Palace could not be completed for the fourth year. The regional facility, the cost of which increased from 2.7 to 3.5 billion tenge during construction, has still not been put into operation. Construction is currently continuing at a slow pace, and the Anti-Corruption Service has taken an interest in the situation.
