The Akim of the Akmola Region Marat Akhmetzhanov stated that the construction of long-standing unfinished buildings in Kokshetau must be completed this year. He inspected the sites and held a meeting with contracting organisations.
According to the press service of the regional akimat, since 2020, construction has begun on 11 multi-storey residential buildings in Kokshetau, which have yet to be completed. Each is at a different stage of readiness, so the reasons for the delays were considered individually.
For example, in 2021, construction began on two residential buildings in the «Saryarka» microdistrict, which were planned to be put into operation this year.
According to the contractor, approximately 60% of the work has been completed on one of the buildings, including the frame and external walls, but there is a delay in the schedule due to a shortage of labour.
The second building lacks external utility networks and has problems with the supply of construction materials. It is expected that upon completion of these projects, over 100 residents will receive housing through preferential loans.
In turn, the Akim of Kokshetau Anuar Kumpekeyev noted that the key reasons for the delays are weak coordination between contractors and insufficiently developed project documentation.
Following the meeting, Marat Akhmetzhanov warned the representatives of the contracting organisations about their responsibility.
“We need to understand the reason for all these projects. The long-standing unfinished buildings are holding up not only construction but also infrastructure, including roads. Over 800 apartments across the city remain unfinished. Because of this, the city cannot develop. We cannot allow people to continue waiting for their apartments for years,” the regional akim stated.
The head of the region instructed the contracting organisations to complete the construction of eight facilities this year. Responsibility for their implementation was assigned to the city akimat and the SPC «Kokshetau».
Recall that earlier, in the village of Bulandy, Birzhan sal district, Akmola Region, construction of a school, which had lasted almost four years, was completed. The cost of the institution for 80 places increased from the initial 673 million to over 1 billion tenge.
