In the Pavlodar region, a court revoked the driving licence and ordered the arrest of the regional governor Asain Baikhanov's own sister - Aigul Baikhanova, who was detained for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Telegram channel "Kozachkov offside", the incident occurred a month ago in Ekibastuz, when the traffic police stopped a Hyundai Tucson.
A woman was behind the wheel, smelling of alcohol. She was taken to a narcology dispensary, where doctors determined she was mildly intoxicated. The police filed an administrative report under Part 1 of Article 608 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Driving a vehicle while intoxicated").
As noted, in court the offender claimed that the car was not moving and that she was only sitting inside because she was cold outside and decided to warm up. She did not deny consuming alcohol.
Her testimony was supported by a man named Kulikov, who introduced himself as her personal driver. He claimed the car was parked near his house, where the woman had come "to pick up belongings". According to him, the car was not moving when the police arrived.
However, the patrol officers stated that they stopped a moving vehicle which contained only the female driver. As the police officers said, there was no driver named Kulikov in the car.
In the end, Baikhanova was found guilty of driving while intoxicated. The court sentenced her to deprivation of her driving licence for 7 years and 15 days of administrative arrest.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Pavlodar region, Asain Baikhanov, commented on his sister's misconduct on his Threads page.
"I can only say that in our state, which has chosen the rule of law and order as one of its basic principles, all citizens are equal before justice. My sister, like other family members, is no exception," the governor stated.
Incidentally, according to Newtimes.kz, this is not the first such case. Back in 2018 in Ekibastuz, Aigul Baikhanova was driving a Nissan Terrano while intoxicated. At that time, she was banned from driving for three years.
