The Mangistau Regional Court overturned the ruling of the specialised court for administrative offences in Aktau, which had previously dismissed the case against the city prosecutor Erbolat Abdirov.

According to the Telegram channel ‘Politprosvet.kz’, the appellate court deemed the lower court’s findings to be unfounded.

It is noted that during the appeal hearing, it was confirmed that on 27 August, on a bus transporting passengers for flight KS-955 on the Almaty–Astana route, Abdirov pestered others in an offensive manner, disrupting public order.

The court found him guilty of committing an offence under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (‘Petty hooliganism’) and imposed a fine of 78,640 tenge.

The Main Transport Prosecutor’s Office also clarified that Erbolat Abdirov has been temporarily suspended from his position pending the completion of all investigations.

It will be recalled that earlier it was reported that the Aktau prosecutor was detained at Almaty airport for ‘drunken disorderly conduct’. The incident occurred at the end of August during his holiday.

On 10 September, the case was dismissed due to the absence of elements of an administrative offence. However, on 11 September, the Main Transport Prosecutor’s Office announced that it was conducting a review of the legality of the court ruling to dismiss the case against Abdirov.
