A video filmed in the area of the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) has been circulating on social media. The author of the clip began filming after noticing a spill of a black liquid with a strong odour near the plant.
As reported by Informburo.kz citing the ANPZ press service, the plant's environmentalists, together with specialists from the Department of Ecology, inspected the scene and determined that the black liquid was leaking from the sewer system.
"The incident occurred outside the plant's territory and is not related to its production systems", the statement reads.
It has become known that the sewer network belongs to "Atyrau oblysy su arnasy". Currently, a team from the enterprise is carrying out repair work to fix the fault.
For its part, "Atyrau oblysy su arnasy" cites a blockage in the wastewater line as the preliminary cause of the incident. However, the company will announce its final conclusions only after diagnostics are completed.
