A verdict has been handed down in the military court of the Aktobe garrison for the head and senior investigator of the Western Regional Directorate of Military Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service of the Military Court, in December 2024, the defendants demanded a bribe of 1 million tenge from a colleague, threatening him with dismissal and other consequences. The accused were subsequently detained while in receipt of 700 thousand tenge.

The defendants pleaded not guilty, but the court proved their guilt based on the testimony of the victim, witnesses, investigative materials, and expert conclusions.

As a result, the head of the directorate was sentenced to 9 years' imprisonment, while the senior investigator received 8 years' imprisonment.

They have been permanently banned from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities, and have also been stripped of their military ranks.

Earlier, for bribery, an employee of the Ministry of Defence, Yerbol Tazhibayev, who held the position of head of the capital construction department at the Main Directorate of Military Infrastructure (GUMI), was convicted.

Initially, the investigation accused him of attempting to receive 200 million tenge — an amount corresponding to the category of particularly large scale. However, at the trial stage, the case was reclassified, and the defendant ultimately received 4 years' imprisonment instead of a possible 15.
