In the North Kazakhstan region, officials of the akimat of the Taiynsha district and a local entrepreneur were convicted of bribery.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the deputy akim of the district and the head of the housing and communal services department received a bribe of 10 million tenge from a businessman for the unhindered signing of certificates of completed road repair works.

The defendants denied their guilt and showed no remorse for their actions.

As a result, the Petropavlovsk city court sentenced them to between 3 years 6 months and 7 years 6 months of imprisonment with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities.

The convicted individuals will serve their sentences in a medium-security correctional facility.

It will be recalled that in September last year, the former head of the apparatus of the akim of the Al-Farabi district was convicted in Shymkent for the embezzlement of 700 million tenge.
