The security service and audit and control department of Kazpost JSC have summarised the results for 2023.

"Financial violations totalling 396.7 million tenge were found in a number of regions. Inspections and internal investigations have been conducted into all incidents, and the materials have been forwarded to law enforcement authorities," reported the press service of Kazpost.

It is reported that last year, based on the 26 materials sent to law enforcement agencies, 24 criminal cases were opened. Verdicts have been handed down in 4 of them, with those convicted receiving sentences ranging from 3 to 7 years' imprisonment.

"1 criminal case was discontinued, 5 criminal cases were dismissed on non-rehabilitative grounds, 12 are under investigation, and 2 criminal cases were dismissed on rehabilitative grounds. The total number of crimes decreased by a factor of 1.9 (from 47 in 2022 to 24 in 2023)," the statement said.

Recall that earlier in the Turkestan region, a verdict was handed down to a 39-year-old postal employee, Bolat Kerimkulov. He was accused of embezzling 69.8 million tenge from the branch of Kazpost JSC in the Kazygurt district.

The court found Kerimkulov guilty of embezzlement on an especially large scale and sentenced him to 8 years in prison. At the same time, the court issued a ruling to review the legality of the termination of the investigation against former accounting staff of the district postal branch.
