During a government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin stated that this year, out of the planned 2 million hectares, 1.3 million hectares of agricultural land had been returned to the state.
According to Vlast.kz, Zhumangarin also spoke about changes to the activities of the seizure commission.
"For the effective management of land resources, the activities of the seizure commission have been completely reorganised, and its main functions will now be to strengthen control over the rational use of land and the redistribution of returned agricultural land," Zhumangarin explained.
At the same time, a special working group has been established to address problematic issues for bona fide farmers who were granted land without competitive procedures.
"It will analyse the practice of annulling decisions by local executive bodies regarding the granting of rights to agricultural land plots, as well as formulate proposals to resolve the issue," the statement said.
The first meeting of the working group is scheduled for 10 September.
"At the same time, the issue of introducing the practice of unilaterally terminating contracts with dishonest parties will be explored. It is important to note here that the actions taken by the committee for land management and its territorial divisions to reclaim land do not contradict current legislation," Zhumangarin emphasised.
Furthermore, he noted that the land seizure commission returned 10 million hectares of unused and unlawfully allocated agricultural land to the state in 2022-2023.
Recall that in the Aktobe region, agricultural land plots covering 30,000 hectares were returned to state ownership.
Earlier, Mazhilis deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek reported that companies linked to Timur Kulibayev are obstructing the execution of court decisions by not returning land plots to the state.
At the same time, it became known that this year prosecutors in the Almaty region returned 155 plots of unused land covering 12,500 hectares and valued at 2.5 billion tenge to state ownership.
