In Astana, residents of the buildings on Kazybek bi Street 7 and Kazybek bi Street 7/2 are complaining about a construction company that is carrying out work on the site of a future eco-park next to Lake Maly Taldykol.
According to the public association "Menin_elim_dala", residents claim that KamAZ trucks are entering the site and pouring out concrete residue, dumping waste asphalt and other construction waste on the lake shore. In support of their claims, they are recording videos from the construction site.
"These are administrative offences. Look, please: they'll load up now, and the lorry will go to dump soil on the lake shore — it'll drive 100 metres and tip it out. One hundred per cent they don't have permission, they're doing all this without authorisation, it's high-handedness," said one of the residents.
Residents are asking the city authorities to intervene and stop the pollution of the coastal zone, fearing for the state of the Maly Taldykol ecosystem.
It is worth recalling: the problem of illegal dumping of construction waste in Astana is systemic in nature. Recently, videos have been regularly appearing online showing concrete mixture being dumped both on the outskirts of the city and in its centre. For such violations, there is a fine of only 20 MCI (78,640 tenge), which often makes it more profitable for contractors to "dispose of" the leftovers on site rather than take them to a landfill.
As for the eco-park, in August of last year it became known that the Astana Akimat did not have a working project for its construction, despite more than 5 billion tenge having been allocated to suppliers.
The authorities claimed that the implementation of the eco-park project was suspended due to a lack of funding. Later, the Akimat reported that the design and estimate documentation for the project was being redeveloped.
