Recently, some streets on the Left Bank of Astana were flooded after heavy rains. The public association «Menin Elim Dala» believes that the water rose mainly in the so-called «area of Lake Maly Taldykol».
The activists, on their Instagram page, expressed the opinion that nothing should have been built there, especially residential complexes. They appealed to the city mayor Zhenis Kassymbek.
«Folks, you, the akimat, allowed building on the reservoirs! Nothing gets built without the knowledge of the city governors, the State Architectural and Construction Control, and the architects! Moreover, practice shows that in Astana, they first agree to build a residential complex, and then connect the utilities. Zhenis Makhmudovich, as you can see, the water element is returning to its usual place. And it does so whenever it sees fit», the statement reads.
The activists are calling for an end to the discharge of wastewater and rubbish into Lake Taldykol.
«Sections 5 and 7 of the lakes are being mercilessly exploited by the akimat's utility workers, and nature is showing that this is a natural element; water knows where it should be. Do not kill the lakes!» the public activists concluded.
The editorial board of FBRK regularly raises the issue of the drying up of Maly Taldykol, linked to the active development of its shoreline. We have analysed over 100 privatised plots, and also compiled a selection of the largest land plots and their owners.
Let us recall that earlier, public figure and journalist Kirill Pavlov sent a request to the Astana akimat to find out whether the illegally issued plots would be confiscated. In addition, the founder of FBRK raised the question of creating the promised park zone on the site of Lake No. 4.
At the same time, it was reported that the Commission on the issue of urban development of the Lake Maly Taldykol area sent a letter to Astana mayor Zhenis Kassymbek, in which it demanded an independent assessment of the technogenic load, due to the active development of Maly Taldykol.
