In the specialist court for administrative offences in Uralsk, a police major's case was heard; he was arrested for driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was behind the wheel of a service vehicle, failed to comply with colleagues' demands to stop, and attempted to flee.
According to the publication My City, the offender faced two charges: driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failing to comply with the demands of police officers. In court, he denied being behind the wheel.
Ultimately, the court sentenced him to a seven-year driving ban and a fine of 157,280 tenge.
Furthermore, the case files were sent to the leadership of the West Kazakhstan Region Police Department. The department noted that the individual in question was dismissed from the service on negative grounds.
"The West Kazakhstan Region Police Department takes a firm stance: violations of discipline and the law within the police force are unacceptable and will be suppressed harshly and unconditionally," the department stated.
It will be recalled that earlier in the Zhambyl Region, senior police officers were detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe. According to FBRK sources, this concerns the head of the regional police department's counter-extremism unit, police colonel Kanat Nurmagambetov, and his deputy, police colonel Orazaly Kudabayev.
