The owner of an illegal procedure room and a nurse were convicted over the death of a patient in Taraz.

A verdict has been handed down in Taraz in the case of a patient's death after an injection at a private treatment room. The owner of the room and a nurse were in the dock.

According to the press service of the courts of Zhambyl region, in 2016 the defendant opened a treatment room in Taraz where intravenous and intramuscular injections were carried out. 

It emerged that the man was not entitled to practice medicine, as he did not have the required permits. 

In February of this year, the room's nurse received a patient and administered an intramuscular injection of the drug 'Ceftriaxone'. According to expert opinion, the patient developed anaphylactic shock. He was taken to the city's multi-speciality hospital, where he died

In the end, the court sentenced the owner of the room to restriction of liberty for a term of two years and six months, with a ban on engaging in entrepreneurial activity in the field of injection therapy for a term of three years. In addition, the court ordered him to pay 5 million tenge in moral damages and 1.2 million tenge in material damages to the victim.

The court sentenced the nurse to restriction of liberty for a term of one year, with a ban on engaging in activity in the field of injection therapy for three years. She was also ordered to pay the injured party 5 million tenge in moral damages and 588,000 tenge in material damages. 

It was previously reported that an investigation is underway in Zhambyl region into the death of a 39-year-old resident of Taraz after hospitalisation. Claims circulated on social media that doctors had allegedly refused to treat the patient without payment.
