A fake cosmetologist caused serious harm to a patient's health in Astana

A resident of Astana has been sentenced for providing illegal medical services and causing serious harm to a patient’s health.

According to the city prosecutor’s office, the convicted woman did not have a licence or certificate, yet carried out a cosmetic procedure using an expired injection. 

As a result, the victim suffered serious complications, leading to inflammatory processes and subsequent medical intervention.

The court sentenced the fake cosmetologist to 1 year and 6 months of restricted freedom, with compulsory labour and a ban on practising medicine.

The convicted woman was ordered to pay material and moral damages amounting to 5.8 million tenge.

Recall that in August, it was reported that a visitor to a beauty salon in Ust-Kamenogorsk died after blepharoplasty - surgery to alter the eyelids.

In February, it became known that surgeons in Taraz were sentenced to 4 years in prison for illegal medical practice. Nine people suffered various injuries as a result of their unskilled procedures.

In November last year, a man in Astana who provided alternative Eastern medicine services, which negligently led to a person’s death, was sentenced. Furthermore, the convicted man did not have the relevant certificates or licences.
